No One Wins (fin.1)

October 17th, 2009 + 12:10 PM  ·  witchwyzwurd

This has to be pretty close to the finished product. I have a couple other ideas I might try. This was mixed on my 1990's boom box w/ 5" speakers, so I won't be surprised if there's mixing issues. I'll be getting some better monitors soon, and maybe I'll remix the song. Thanks for all your support (gives a yahoo out to Denis).

No One Wins (still)

October 4th, 2009 + 3:10 PM  ·  witchwyzwurd

I took your suggestions to heart and cut out a bunch of stuff. I couldn't figure out what I wanted, so I started by eliminating everything except guitar and vocals. I then added back in the bass guitar and piano and some of the electric guitar. Does this version sound better. I still need to add in another or some more instruments I think (or maybe not?). I just don't know what the instruments are. Any suggestions?

For Lydia

Barebones recording of a new song. Just acoustic guitar. One part basically. Doubling of guitar behind strummed parts to add depth. Reverb added. Plans to add on other instruments to add flavor. I hear at least strings and electric/distorted guitar in some areas. Asking Lydia if she's interested in recording vocals to it.

No One Wins

Hey! I'm not bragging about the production quality and mix. I'm still using my 1989 Logik boom box radio with 5" speakers for monitoring. But. I just found out I was accepted for a second job, so some of that extra money will be used for some quality monitors (then I won't have excuse). So you can tell me all about the crap-job on the mix, and it'll be appreciated, but just to let you know I'm aware of it.

With that said, he are the lyrics:

Once upon a time,
when the leaves were green,
before Man came to burn down all the trees
the water waves reflected the sky

Now,
acid rain burns seas upon my eyes
laughing without care as the world spins
killing each other off in this evil competition

No one wins

Watching the last bit of dirt decay
left all alone; empty
no more air to breathe,
no more minds to think

Suffered your souls for paper and ink
laughing without care as the world spins
killing each other off in this evil competition

No one wins
